CEO: Novatek to build 20.4 mln tn LNG plant in Murmansk Region
BELOKAMENKA, Murmansk Region, Jun 6 (PRIME) -- The capacity of a new liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant of gas producer Novatek in the Murmansk Region can amount to 20.4 million tonnes, CEO Leonid Mikhelson said on Tuesday confirming a media report.
"We are working on fulfilling the next project here, in Murmansk… We can put three lines here, 6.8-million tonne each, we will launch two of them in 2027 and in 2029 respectively," Mikhelson said.
The region has an about 1-gigawatt surplus in power generation. "We have discussed power supplies with Rosatom and Rosseti, they welcome thw additional loading of the unrequired capacities," Mikhelson said.
He also said that to make an investment decision, the company needs to build a 1,300 kilometer gas pipeline between Volkhov and Murmansk.
